My name is Harvey Schmidt, and I’m running to be your next state representative in Michigan’s 57th District.
I’m a lifelong resident of Lenawee County. As a small-business owner for 40 years, I’ve dedicated myself to providing a high level of service, and I want to take that service to Lansing and continue helping my neighbors.
I’ve seen many highs and lows in my four decades as an entrepreneur, and I’m ready to use that experience to help other small businesses create good-paying jobs in our community instead of handing out massive tax breaks to big corporations that ship jobs overseas.
Those jobs need skilled workers, too, which is why I’ll fight for better K-12 schools, colleges and vocational education to ensure we have the talent to compete with the rest of the nation and the world.
I’ve also served on the Tecumseh City Council, as well as mayor, and I’ve seen Lansing politicians slash revenue sharing, balancing the state budget on the backs of communities like ours that are forced to make do with less. I’ll be smart and transparent with taxpayer dollars and make sure local governments have the resources to provide services you depend on, like police and fire protection.
Together, we can create a Lenawee County and a Michigan where everyone can succeed.
